History

The Committee was formed in 2006 to plan some of the celebrations to mark the 800th anniversary of the year when Cambridge was granted the charter to elect its own mayors. The Committee promoted an exhibition in the Museum about the Mayoralty and organised a celebratory dinner and auction in St John's College. The Cambridge 800 Committee, thus named from these celebrations, is formed of local people who have an interest in supporting the Museum. You can buy a richly illustrated booklet about the history of the Cambridge Mayoralty for £5.99 by sending a cheque payable to "Cambridge 800 Account" to the address below. If you visit the Museum at 1-2 Castle Street, Cambridge and buy an admission ticket you can buy the booklet at the bargain price of £2.00.
